WENGEN, Switzerland—Swedish skier Markus Larsson briefly lost consciousness after crashing in downhill training Wednesday on the famed Lauberhorn run.
The 30-year-old Larsson sustained a concussion and other injuries after crashing near the finish of the nearly 2.8-mile course, the longest and most demanding on the World Cup circuit.
Race spokesman Hugo Steinegger said Larsson quickly recovered consciousness and was flown by helicopter to a hospital in nearby Interlaken, where he’ll be kept under observation.
Larsson has started 130 World Cup races, winning twice. He does not usually enter downhills, but competes in super-combined events that include a downhill or super-G.
A super-combi is scheduled for Friday at Wengen.
