PHILADELPHIA — A Philadelphia museum has received a musical gift for children and “Big” kids alike.

The 16-foot piano Tom Hanks walked on in his 1988 film “Big” will be on display next month at the city’s Please Touch Museum.

The instrument is a gift to the children’s museum from a couple in suburban Merion, Pa., who bought the device after the movie’s release.

In the movie directed by Penny Marshall, Hanks, playing a little boy whose wish to be an adult magically comes true, at least on the outside, jumps on the giant piano with his new boss, a toy-company owner played by Robert Loggia. In one of the signature scenes of the film, they play a duet of tunes that includes “Chopsticks.”

The piano was built in Philadelphia by Remo Saraceni, who called his invention a Walking Piano.
