CENTRAL CITY, Colo.—Central City has become the third and final Colorado town to expand gambling.
Residents voted 212-16 in favor of increasing the amount of bets and allowing 24-hour gambling at casinos, with nine provisional votes to be counted Wednesday.
The measure also allows casinos in Central City to add craps and roulette and raise the stakes from $5 to $100.
Cripple Creek became the first of the state’s three gambling towns to increase bets and hours when voters there approved a similar measure in December. Black Hawk voters approved expanded gambling last week.
The local referendums are a product of a state constitutional amendment adopted with 60 percent of the statewide vote in November.
The changes take effect after July 1.
