DENVER—Broncos coach Josh McDaniels added several pieces to his coaching staff Tuesday, hiring five assistants.

The team announced the newly hired coach has brought in offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Mike McCoy, special teams coordinator Mike Priefer, secondary coach Ed Donatell, wide receivers coach Adam Gase and defensive line coach Wayne Nunnely.

McCoy has spent the last nine seasons with Carolina, serving as the Panthers’ passing game coordinator for the last two.

Priefer was with Kansas City, holding the position as special teams coordinator for the Chiefs for the last three seasons. He is also the son of former NFL coach Chuck Priefer.

Donatell is back with the Broncos for a second stint. He was also with the team when they won back-to-back Superbowl titles in 1997 and ’98.

Gase was an offensive assistant in San Francisco last season, while Nunnely arrives from San Diego after spending 12 seasons as the Chargers’ defensive line coach.

Last week, McDaniels hired defensive coordinator Mike Nolan to shore up a shaky defense. Nolan is the Broncos’ fourth defensive coordinator in four years.
