Flyball for Dogs
Speed, agility and teamwork have made this fast- growing canine sport a fixture at rodeos and county fairs across the country as well as on Animal Planet and other TV venues. The sport features every breed and pedigree, with a few skilled mutts in the mix.
Four dogs work as a team in a relay. They cover a 51-foot track, jumping four hurdles, then activate a spring-loaded box that launches a tennis ball. The dog catches the ball in the air and runs back over the course to the starting point, to let the next dog start, all while competing against another team on a parallel track. All four dogs must complete the leg of the relay error-free or start over. The team world record is 16.06 seconds.
When: 5 p.m.
Where: Stadium Arena
Cost: Free with grounds admission
