OMAHA, Neb.—Grocery store operator Nash Finch is recalling bakery products distributed in Nebraska and seven other states because they included peanut butter that may be contaminated with salmonella.
The products also were sold in Colorado, Ohio, Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin and Minnesota. The stores include SunMart and other brands.
The ingredient Nash Finch used was made by Peanut Corp. of America, which has recalled its peanut butter and peanut paste.
Peanut Corp.’s products are linked to six deaths and 485 illnesses, including one person who took ill in Nebraska.
Officials say people should avoid foods containing peanut butter until the investigations are completed. Peanut butter sold in jars to consumers is not affected.
