Gov. Bill Ritter and Energy Office Director Tom Plant announced Wednesday more than $370,000 in New Energy Economic Development grants. The grants are intended to create jobs and strengthen local economies.

The Governor’s Energy Office administers the grants using Clean Energy Funds from gaming revenues.

Winners of the grants include:

• The city of Greeley, $82,489 to conduct a feasibility analysis for the development of a Greeley Clean Energy Park.

• The Colorado Brownfields Foundation, $25,000 to create a feasibility model of using multiple renewable- energy technologies at a former landfill site in Colorado Springs.

• Energistic Systems of Golden, $100,000 for a new solar-thermal system called SunTrac.

• Salida-based Garna and the Global Biomass Network Project Inc., $100,000 in matching funds to support the development of a waste- wood diversion/gasification project at the Chaffee County landfill.

• Hybrids Plus Inc. of Boulder, $25,000 to design and develop a second-generation extended-range battery for plug-in hybrid vehicles.

• Telluride-based Lotus Energy Solutions, $832 in matching funds to help homes in the area receive Home Energy Rating System ratings and become Energy Star certified.

• Nexajoule Inc. of Boulder, $25,000 to refine designs and conduct testing on an energy-efficient evaporative chiller.

• Southeast CO RC&D, based in Lamar, a $12,800 grant to install technology on farm-scale wind turbines.
