COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—A 28-year-old Security woman has been ordered to stand trial in the death of her sister’s boyfriend.
Denise Presson is accused of fatally shooting 28-year-old Victor San Miguel on Dec. 18 at his home near Fort Carson. Investigators say she also tried to shoot her sister but the gun jammed.
Presson is charged with first-degree murder, attempted murder, menacing and possession of a weapon by a previous offender. El Paso County District Judge Gilbert Martinez ruled Wednesday the evidence was sufficient to put her on trial.
Presson also is charged with attempting to assault a peace officer after authorities say she tried to attack a sheriff’s deputy Dec. 20 at the county jail.
The arrest affidavit says Presson shot San Miguel because she thought he was molesting her nephew. The boy has denied the claim.
Presson is being held without bond and is scheduled to enter a plea April 20.
