The New Jersey Nets recalled second-year center Sean Williams on Thursday from the 14ers, the team’s NBADL affiliate.
Williams started six of eight games with Colorado, averaging 9.8 points, 7.5 rebounds and almost four blocks in 25.9 minutes. He had 27 points on 12-of-14 shooting and 16 rebounds in 37 minutes at Rio Grande on Jan. 14. Prior to his assignment in late December, Williams had appeared in 16 games for the Nets, averaging 1.6 points and 2.1 rebounds.
Colorado is the NBADL farm team for both the Nets and the Nuggets. The 14ers are left with just eight players on their roster.
• Colorado never trailed in earning its fifth victory in six games, 121-116 over the visiting Bakersfield Jam at the Broomfield Event Center.
Josh Davis led the 14ers with 25 points and Billy Thomas added 22. Eddie Gill tallied his fourth consecutive double-double, with 14 points and 11 assists.
Regis soccer coach resigns.
Matt Tiemeyer resigned as head coach of the Regis University men’s soccer team and will become an assistant coach at Wisconsin, Rangers athletic director Barbara Schroeder said.
Tiemeyer compiled a 19-15-3 record in two seasons as head coach at Regis, including an 8-8-2 record and a fifth-place finish in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference last season.
Steamboat’s Paley takes telemark race.
Lorin Paley of Steamboat Springs won a gold medal in a juniors race at the World Telemark Championships in Kreischberg, Austria. Drew Hauser of Silverthorne won a silver medal, his second medal of the meet. Hauser won a gold medal Wednesday.
