From “Joy of Cooking All About Party Foods and Drinks,” makes about 1 1/4 cups, serves 6-8.

Ingredients

8    ounces cream cheese, softened

2    ounces blue cheese

2    tablespoons port (optional)

1    tablespoon chopped walnuts, toasted at 325 degrees for 5-7 minutes

     Sliced French bread

     Sliced apples or pears, soaked in water with a squeeze of lemon juice

     Quartered fresh figs

Directions

In a food processor or blender, puree cream cheese, blue cheese and port. Scrape into a small bowl and sprinkle with walnuts. Serve with bread or fruit.
