STOCKHOLM, Sweden — Sweden has reserved a place for Peter Forsberg in the LG Hockey Games in case the injury-plagued forward feels well enough to play.
Sweden coach Bengt- Ake Gustafsson said Monday he had been in touch with Forsberg, asking him whether he wanted to join the team for the Feb. 5-8 tournament.
“He couldn’t make a decision right now, but we’ve agreed to keep a spot open until Friday. That’s when he’ll give an answer,” Gustafsson told the Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet.
Forsberg, who made a late-season return to the Avalanche last year, said this month he was back on the ice in Ornskoldsvik, Sweden, testing his ailing right foot to see whether he will make one last attempt at a comeback.
