DENVER—Police say two taxicab passengers en route to the Denver airport were killed when the cab was struck by a suspected hit-and-run driver and the passengers were ejected.

Police say both victims of the Wednesday morning crash were women from out of town. Their names haven’t been released.

The taxi driver was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say the Freedom Cab minivan was northbound on Pena Boulevard, the heavily traveled road between Interstate 70 and Denver International Airport, at about 10:45 a.m. when it was struck by a white pickup truck.

The truck was later found at the DIA cargo area.

Forty-year-old Sandra Lee Jacobson has been taken into custody in connection with the crash. Police say Jacobson is being held on investigation of two counts of vehicular homicide and one count of vehicular assault, and is suspected of driving under the influence.
