Denver Post staff writer Jon E. Yunt takes a look ahead at the action in high school sports:

GIRLS SWIMMING

Campbell’s M’m! M’m! Good!

Fossil Ridge has called her its secret weapon. Freshman Emily Campbell, who attends nearby Heritage Christian Academy in Fort Collins, has taken the Class 4A swimming scene by storm and positioned herself nicely not only for this weekend’s conference championships but the following week’s state meet, both at the Mountain View Aquatic Center in Loveland. Campbell’s 24.76-second 50-yard freestyle, a school record, is the fastest in 4A this year. Mountain View will host the 5A Front Range League finals today and the 4A league finals Saturday.

The first of the winter state championships take place Feb. 13-14, with 4A in Loveland and 5A at EPIC in Fort Collins.

WRESTLING

One week to regionals

It’s the final week of the regular season for grapplers across the state. So it’s one more week to perfect what their coaches have been pounding into their brains for the past three months. If your school starts with a “C,” it’s probably hosting a tournament Saturday. Cañon City, Conifer and Coronado’s Cougars all will host competitions.

ICE HOCKEY

The mountain tour

Teams have their eyes on Regis and are trying to hand the Raiders a loss. The Raiders will get tested on the ice this weekend, and off it, too. On Friday, they host 13-2-1 Summit at Family Sports Center at 5:45 p.m., then pack the bags for a bus ride to Aspen. The Skiers, who started the season 0-3, have rebounded to go 9-2 in their last 11, including Tuesday’s 1-0 victory against visiting Standley Lake.

Games with postseason implications: Steamboat Springs at Cheyenne Mountain on Friday and Peak to Peak vs. Kent Denver on Saturday.
