DENVER—Authorities say a man who was wanted on allegations of killing a Mexican police officer and the officer’s wife has been deported after being arrested in Adams County.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement says 36-year-old Gustavo Guerrero-Cereceres was deported Wednesday to face murder charges.

The agency says Guerrero-Cereceres had been living in Commerce City. ICE agents took him into custody Jan. 23 after the U.S. Marshals Service informed them of his arrest warrant by the Mexican government.

Guerrero-Cereceres and Virilio Palma are accused of killing Israel Barriga-Rodriguez, a Mexican police officer, and his wife on June 14 at the couple’s home.

Palma was later arrested in Los Mochis, Mexico.

ICE says authorities suspect the slayings were ordered by a drug cartel.
