Jeff Gordon is flying commercial these days, while many of his NASCAR counterparts with private aircraft have begun jet-pooling, piling the once-unthinkable total of four or five others aboard with their buddies and girlfriends. Gordon estimates he saved at least $100,000 in January by flying commercial and because he did not need to arrange private travel to various tracks due to NASCAR’s cost-saving testing moratorium. “I think I made a few new fans,” he said. “I think some people are doing that double take, but everybody was very cool.”
