It wasn’t in the Cards

Wow! What a great Super Bowl, with exciting, unusual plays, and a fourth quarter that was one for the ages.

Seems most of us here in Colorado were rooting for the Cardinals. The place I was at erupted with excitement and we were jumping up and down when Larry Fitzgerald scored the go-ahead touchdown with 2 1/2 minutes to go.

I thought the roughing the QB, roughing the holder, and pass interference against the Cardinals were all bad calls and unnecessary. Referee McCauley and his crew have a long history of calling lots of penalties. And why didn’t the officials do a review of the last play to see if Warner’s arm was going forward? Since the ball went forward a few yards after leaving his hand, it seems to me they would have reversed the call.

Apart from Steelers fans, I think every football fan would have loved to see Fitzgerald catch the winning score on the game’s final play. And that would have made this the greatest Super Bowl of all time.

But credit Arizona for holding it together in the second half and being able to rally.

And congratulations to Pittsburgh.
