LOUISVILLE, Colo.—Investigators say last week’s fatal house fire in Louisville (LOO’-iss-vil) started accidentally in the kitchen, possibly on the gas range.
Forty-eight-year-old David Ryan of Pleasanton, Calif., was found dead Friday in the home of his recently deceased father, former Boulder Valley schools superintendent Barnard “Pat” Ryan, after police noticed the flames at about 2 a.m.
He was in town to settle his father’s estate.
Louisville fire investigator George Codding said Monday that the fire, which took 45 minutes to control, was an accident.
David Ryan is survived by a wife, Lynn Ryan, two sons and a daughter.
Lynn Ryan says the family is planning to hold a memorial service in Boulder County early next week.
