DENVER—A 13-year-old boy is dead and four other people are seriously injured following a two-vehicle crash near Bennett, in eastern Arapahoe County.

The Colorado State Patrol says Daniel Salazar of Bennett was killed Monday night when the sport utility vehicle he was riding in was hit by a pickup truck.

The patrol says the truck, driven by 23-year-old Dylan Zweygardt of Parker, was northbound on County Road 129 when it allegedly failed to stop at a stop sign and struck the SUV.

The patrol says Zweygardt; the SUV driver, 28-year-old Yanira Salazar; and a passenger in the pickup, 29-year-old Kathleen Toft of Bennett, were taken by ambulance to a local hospital with serious injuries.

A second SUV passenger, 8-year-old Vivian Salazar, was taken by helicopter to Children’s Hospital with serious injuries.

The patrol says the crash remains under investigation, and charges are pending.
