Tuesday night’s snowfall left little or no accumulation on metro region roads warmed by days of temperatures in the 50s and 60s, according the National Weather Service in Boulder.

The wet conditions, however, could leave some morning roads icy for early commuters as temperatures fall to about 20 degrees by daybreak, forecasters said.

The Front Range saw varying amounts of precipitation, with Fort Collins expected to get about 3 inches of snow, Castle Rock about 1 inch and Denver less than an inch.

Wednesday is expected to be mostly sunny, with a high near 47 degrees and a low around 26.

But Thursday provides a 50 percent chance of snow for the metro region, with nighttime lows in the 20s, according to the forecast.

The city has a 30 percent chance of snow of Friday and 10 percent on Saturday and Sunday, with highs around 40 and lows around 20 degrees each day.

Denver so far has received less than 17 inches of snow so far this year, about half of its normal total, according to weather statistics.

The mountains continue to add to above-average accumulation, however. The northern mountains added about 4 inches Tuesday.

Much heavier snow was expected in Colorado’s southwest mountains overnight, with 10 inches of accumulation in the Sangre de Cristo range.

Another heavy snowstorm is expected in the mountains Saturday, followed by another stormfront Sunday and Monday. Both could drop “significant” amounts on mountain ski resorts, according to the National Weather Service.
