DENVER—The House’s plan to take a four-day break in the middle of the session is in limbo.
The Senate voted 24-10 to reject the idea on Wednesday. Senators must approve any adjournments of the House lasting more than three days.
House Speaker Terrance Carroll said lawmakers are considering what to do now.
Some senators say it would be better for lawmakers to finish up work a few days early in May because that would save the state money.
Majority Leader Brandon Shaffer supports the House break. He says it’s not intended to save money but instead to give lawmakers a chance to go home during a lull in deliberations.
The planned break at the end of February would come after bills from one chamber move to the other.
