A Pacific storm system will bring more snow to the mountains and could give the metro region a dusting tonight, according to the National Weather Service.

Forecasters expect clouds to increase in Denver this afternoon as a Pacific storm rakes across the state. Ski resorts are expected to add several inches of fresh powder for early weekend skiers.

The northern mountains are under a winter travel advisory until 11 a.m. today, with up to 10 inches of snow expected.

The metro region has a 40 percent chance of snow tonight, with the strongest possibilities north of Interstate 70 east of Denver. The heaviest snow amounts, up to 6 inches, should hit the northeast corner of Colorado, according to forecasters.

Accumulation in the city is expected to be less than an inch. The region has a 20 percent chance of snow Friday and Saturday with highs near 40 and lows near 20 degrees.

Temperatures in the metro region should reach the upper 40s Monday and Tuesday, according the Weather Service.
