COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—Two men have been arrested in a 2002 Colorado Springs slaying after authorities say a jailhouse informant taped one of them laughing about the crime.
Authorities say Clifford Dupree and Kentswan Davis have been arrested in the shooting death of 29-year-old Cornelius Dowdell. Both already are incarcerated on other charges.
The arrest affidavit says Dowdell was shot nine times at a Colorado Springs apartment complex on July 10, 2002.
Authorities say an informant agreed to wear a wire while in the El Paso County jail with Dupree in 2006 and taped Dupree laughing about the shooting.
The affidavit says Dupree later told investigators that he took part in the killing, and said Davis shot Dowdell after an argument over a drug deal gone bad.
