Rep. Don Marostica warned his colleagues in the House today to be on the lookout for obscene material being circulated by a lobbyist.
“I want to alert all of you,” Marostica said on the House floor. “The material is so offensive I can’t put it up on the screen.”
Marostica said the material had been dropped off at his office by Stephanie Steinberg, an advocate for Smoke-free Gaming of Colorado, which opposed his efforts to loosen the anti-smoking ban in places of public accommodation.
Marostica has said he wants to allow cigar bars, but hasn’t moved forward with a bill this year because of concerns that it would apply to restaurants as well. Anti-smoking advocates have said the proposal would have allowed the use of all tobacco products, not just cigars.
Marostica said Steinberg gave the material to aides in his office, and it was viewed by an impressionable young intern. He said that was inappropriate.
So what was so offensive?
