GREELEY, Colo.—A volunteer girls high school soccer coach from Greeley is in custody after authorities say he had online sexual discussions with a person he believed to be a minor.

The Jefferson County district attorney’s office alleges that 28-year-old Oscar Herrera had lurid online conversations with a person he thought was an underage teenager. The teen was actually investigator Mike Harris.

Evans-Greeley School District spokesman Roger Fiedler says Herrera was a volunteer assistant coach at Greeley West High School but has been notified he won’t be allowed back with the team this spring.

Prosecutors say Herrera was booked into the Jefferson County jail on Thursday and will be held without bail until a Friday court appearance.

He is being held on suspicion of Internet luring of a child and attempted sexual exploitation of a child.
