A Greeley man, apparently on his way to work this morning, was gunned down behind the wheel of his truck.
The name of the victim, a white man in his mid-40s, was not released and the shooter is at large, Greeley police said.
The shooting happened at about 5:20 a.m. near the intersection of 46th Avenue Court and 7th Street, said Sgt. Joe Tymkowych.
Police received two calls of shots fired in the area and when they arrived, within 3 minutes, they found the man behind the wheel of his pickup suffering from multiple wounds, Tymkowych said.
The driver was sitting “motionless” in the truck with its lights on, Tymkowych said. The driver’s side window was shattered and shots were fired through the driver’s door.
The victim was taken to the North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley where he was pronounced dead.
The shooting remains under investigation. Police are still trying to determine a motive.
Anyone with information on the case is asked to call Greeley police at 970 350-9600.
