A large grass fire that flared up this afternoon in eastern Arapahoe County has been contained temporarily by fire crews.
The fire broke out around 3 p.m. and quickly grew to 200 acres before crews could stop its progress. No structures were burned, although one house was evacuated.
The fire burned in a southeasterly direction, pushed by 20-25 mph winds.
The cause was unknown.
The fire broke out near East Quincy Avenue, roughly east of E-470 and north of Aurora Reservoir. The boundaries of the fire are East Quincy Avenue on the north, County Road 50 on the south, Tom Bay Road on the east and South Manila Road on the west.
