Textbooks soak up a lot of a college student’s budget, which explains the popularity of instant ramen noodles on campuses. To help cash-strapped students, Pueblo Community College’s bookstore will lease core texts — saving the difference between paying $165 for a biology book, or renting it for $60 per semester. The program began last fall and it’s a hit.

One of Colorado’s newest cowboy churches, a nondenominational New Testament church emphasizing Western culture, opens today at 4 p.m. Pastor Larry Smith’s plans include the expected — a youth ministry, Bible study, youth-friendly Friday night movies — and the unexpected: free riding lessons for all ages on the church’s 40-acre property.

The Weather Channel’s “Tornado Week” starts with a look at the vicious tornado that ripped through Windsor last July. Narrator and storm tracker Jim Cantore interviews survivors, including staff and parents associated with the Windmill Child Enrichment Center, where day-care staff physically buffered the children from the 136 to 165 mph winds.
