ARVADA, Colo.—Firefighters have contained several grass fires near Arvada that destroyed a home and an outbuilding. There are no reports of injuries.

Scott Pribble of the Arvada Fire Protection District says sparks from a train’s wheels started at least seven fires along a five-mile stretch of track west of town.

Pribble said one house was destroyed. Its resident, a 90-year-old woman, and another person were evacuated before flames engulfed the structure.

Firefighters are putting out hotspots.
