DENVER—Democratic U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet says he has hired Rosemary Rodriguez, chairwoman of the federal Election Assistance Commission, as his state director.

Rodriguez replaces Renny Fagan, who is resigning to be president of the Colorado Nonprofit Association.

As state director, Rodriguez will oversee the day-to-day operations of Bennet’s eight regional offices—in Denver, Fort Morgan, Fort Collins, Grand Junction, Durango, Pueblo, Alamosa and Colorado Springs.

The former Denver City Council member has served on the Election Assistance Commission for nearly two years. She says she will resign from that post at the end of the week.
