OMAHA, Neb.—Tomas Klempa scored a third-period goal to lift Nebraska-Omaha to a 2-2 tie with Minnesota State, Mankato on Tuesday night.
MSU killed off a 5-on-3 power play in the final two minutes of regulation, and the two teams played a scoreless overtime. UNO won a shootout after overtime, but the nonconference game goes into the record books as a tie.
Rich Purslow scored on a mini-breakaway at the 13:30 mark of the first period to put Nebraska-Omaha on the board first. Minnesota State (13-15-4, 9-13-2 WCHA) answered back with 75 seconds left in the frame on a power-play goal by freshman Adam Mueller.
Geoff Irwin scored a power-play goal in the second period to put MSU ahead 2-1.
UNO (13-15-8, 8-13-7-3 CCHA) closed out its regular season with a 14-game winless streak.
