A 30-year-old man who allegedly tried to kill the husband of a woman he was having an affair with has been arrested for investigation of attempted first-degree murder and first-degree assault.

Kenneth Mann was arrested about 9:50 p.m. Tuesday after Evans police officers responded to calls that a man was being assaulted in the 600 block of 27th Street in nearby Garden City.

At the scene they found Matthew Pope, 24, suffering from multiple stab wounds.

A number of individuals, including Mann, were at the scene.

According to Det. Rita Wolf, spokeswoman for the Evans Police Department, Mann was allegedly involved in an “intimate relationship” with Matthew Pope’s wife, Erica Pope, which led to a fight between the two men.

Pope was taken to the Northern Colorado Medical Center in Greeley where he is listed in stable condition.
