A 15-year-old Ralston Valley High School student was hospitalized with numerous injuries Wednesday after he was run over by a car he was hanging onto while riding a skateboard.

The name of the boy in the 1 p.m. accident near the 12100 block of West 85th Avenue was not released.

The boy was not wearing a helmet, Arvada Police spokeswoman Susan Medina, said.

The 16-year-old Mustang driver was taken to the police department for questioning.

Authorities believe the victim was holding the driver’s side door of a Ford Mustang while his 16-year-old companion was driving the car westbound on 85th Avenue.

Police are investigating how fast the Mustang was going and why the teen let go of the door just before he was struck by the car.
