A $22 jaywalking citation issued to a bus driver who was seriously injured while saving two pedestrians from an oncoming pickup has been dismissed.
Also dismissed was a jaywalking citation issued to one of the two pedestrians whom bus driver Jim Moffett pushed to safety.
State Patrol Lt. Col. Doyle S. Eicher, commander of the patrol’s northern region, said that after considering the circumstances and consulting with Adams County prosecutors, the citations against Moffett and the pedestrian, Eddie Moore, 55, were withdrawn.
However, a ticket issued to Steven David, the driver of the pickup, will stand, the state patrol said.
On Feb. 20, Moffett was escorting Moore, 78-year-old Patricia Denning, and Denning’s adult daughter across Federal at the intersection of Federal Boulevard and West 63rd Avenue.
State Patrol Sgt. John Hahn said there are no painted crosswalks at the intersection and no traffic controls.
Hahn said the ticket against David was not dismissed because he swerved around a stopped vehicle and into the left lane, where Moffett was hit.
The speed limit on Federal at the point of the accident is 45 mph, said Hahn.
