Roundtable meetings to provide information to anglers and a forum for commentary about fishing in southeast Colorado are scheduled in a number of locations.

Colorado Division of Wildlife biologists will be available to furnish forecasts about lakes and streams, as well as fish-stocking schedules and plans to inspect certain waters for invasive species such as zebra mussels.

The meeting schedule:

March 10: 6:30-9 p.m., Colorado Springs DOW office, 4255 Sinton Road.

April 7: 6:30-8:30 p.m., La Junta Holiday Inn Express, 32994 West U.S. 50.

April 8: 7-9 p.m., Buena Vista Community Center.

April 10: 6:30-8:30 p.m., Lamar DOW office, 2500 S. Main St.

April 13: 7-9 p.m., Pueblo DOW office, 2600 West Mesa.

Barr ramp opens.

The boat ramp to Barr Lake, a 1,950-acre impoundment adjacent to Interstate 76 northeast of Denver, is scheduled to open today to sailboats, hand-propelled craft, electric trolling motors and motors with 10 horsepower or less.

The north part of the lake is open to various boating and fishing activities; water-based activities are not permitted on the south half, which is protected as a wildlife sanctuary, marked by a buoy line.

Barr Lake is part of the Colorado State Parks system, and a permit is required.

Hardie honored.

Noted Denver wildlife artist Eldridge Hardie has been named winner of Sporting Classics magazine’s sporting art award. An artist for five decades, Hardie previously has been honored by Ducks Unlimited, Trout Unlimited and other conservation organizations. His illustrations have appeared in more than 15 books.
