BOZEMAN, Mont.—Katie Bussey scored 19 points and Lyndi Seidensticker added 14 to put Montana State past Northern Colorado 78-69 on Saturday night—clinching a berth in the Big Sky Conference tournament.
Sarah Strand finished with 11 points and six rebounds, while Jenny Heringer scored 10 bench points for the Bobcats (13-13, 7-7 Big Sky). Nubia Garcia led the team with eight rebounds.
Montana State took advantage of poor shooting by UNC in the first half and went into the break with a 37-28 lead. The second half was much of the same for the Bears (12-16, 5-9), who hit only 33 percent from the field after the break. They tried 27 3-pointers throughout the game but made only seven.
Whitley Cox led UNC with 20 points, followed by Kate Kevorken with 15 points and a team-high 13 rebounds.
