ARAPAHOE COUNTY — This time, the low-down snakes were the victims too.

Two crooks broke into a PetSmart store in the 8000 block of South University Boulevard early Saturday and snatched five snakes — a banded California kingsnake, an albino corn snake, a corn snake and two ball pythons, according to the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office.

The warm-weather kingsnake was dropped in the parking lot and died, apparently from the elements. The two thieves slithered away into the night with the other four. The men, who were recorded on a security video, were wearing white sweat shirts, jeans and black ski masks.
