The eastbound lanes of I-70 near Tabor Street will be closed for a few hours tonight as investigators try to determine how a man was hit by numerous cars and killed near the bridge over the freeway.
“We don’t have anyone yet who actually saw him come off the bridge, so we don’t know if he jumped, or fell or walked onto the interstate and was hit,” said Wheat Ridge police spokeswoman Lisa Stigall.
The body on the interstate was reported about 7:15 p.m.
“We need to talk to more witnesses,” Stigall said about 7:45 p.m. “And it could be that people ran over something on the interstate and didn’t realize what they hit.”
The man’s identity and description were not yet available. Tabor Street is about quarter mile east of Ward Road.
Anyone with information is asked to call Wheat Ridge police at 303-237-2220.
