Autokinoton called it a day — err, night — with a final performance at 3 Kings Tavern on Saturday. Photos by .
The oft-beleaguered, bad luck boys of called it quits Saturday night with a final blowout at 3 Kings Tavern, preceded by sets from and Space in Time.
The three-piece instrumental band kicked out a relentless set of flowing and swelling psych-metal that was hypnotic enough to keep a large crowd pressed closely against the stage during the entire post-midnight performance. In fact, the crowd was still there for at least five minutes after the band walked off the stage for the last time, staring into a deafening wall of looped guitar and bass effects.
Autokinoton’s set featured performances by former band members Joseph Triscari (vocals) and Shaun Herrea (guitar), as well as the addition of guest musicians Holland Rock-Garden (guitar) and Trevor Morris (saxophone). As unfortunate as the loss of Autokinoton is for the local scene, the real bad news is that band members Joshua Everingham, Andrew Segreti and Justin Slojkowski all have plans to move their musical talents out of Colorado.
