DENVER—Authorities say a 28-year-old woman faces multiple felony charges in a Denver wreck that killed a toddler and injured two adults.

The Denver district attorney’s office says Shenell Phillips has been arrested on suspicion of child abuse resulting in death. She also faces two counts of vehicular homicide, four counts of vehicular assault, two counts of drunken driving and other charges.

Prosecutors allege that Phillips was driving drunk in the wrong direction on 56th Avenue on Saturday when she crashed into an oncoming car. A third car then hit that vehicle.

Prosecutors say a friend’s 17-month-old child was riding in Phillips’ vehicle and suffered fatal injuries in the wreck. The two women in the vehicle that Phillips allegedly hit were taken to a Denver hospital with serious injuries.

District attorney’s spokeswoman Lynn Kimbrough said Wednesday she didn’t know if the women were still hospitalized, or if Phillips had an attorney.

Phillips is in the Denver County jail on $250,000 bond. She is scheduled to appear in court Friday morning to be advised of the charges.
