Board members of the Denver Regional Council of Governments have chosen 13 projects to receive $60.6 million in federal transportation stimulus money that will flow through the regional organization.
Major projects selected by DRCOG include:
• $18.6 million to RTD for work on Denver Union Station.
• $12 million for a new interchange at Interstate 70 and Central Park Boulevard in Denver’s Stapleton area.
• $11.3 million for a new interchange at Interstate 225/East 17th Ave./East Colfax Ave. in Aurora.
• $10 million to separate Pecos Street from Union Pacific Railroad tracks near West 60th Avenue in Adams County.
• $4 million for the extension of West 120th Avenue over U.S. 36 in Broomfield.
DRCOG also will distribute a total of $4.7 million for eight transportation “enhancement” projects in Arapahoe County, Lyons, Nederland, Arvada, Boulder, Denver, Westminster and Erie that include bike lanes, new sidewalks, streetscaping and ADA- approved pedestrian access ramps.
