PUEBLO — During its previous two games, Fossil Ridge was in a shooting slump. The SaberCats, however, couldn’t have picked a better time to find their shooting touch.

Fossil Ridge drained eight 3-pointers Thursday, three by Gabs Lucero, to upset Pueblo South 56-48 at Massari Arena.

“We’ve been off with our shots the last couple of games, but we’re hitting our shots (Thursday night),” Fossil Ridge coach Shannon Randles said. “We usually shoot a lot of 3s, and we were making those as well.”

The Colts (23-3) cut the deficit to 41-40 when Sara Housman put back a bucket with 5:58 remaining. The SaberCats never flinched, and Lucero drained a crucial trey with 3:51 for a 49-42 lead.
