History buffs and ski bums now can stay in former President Gerald Ford’s Beaver Creek homefor a price. The home is listed with a sale price of $14.9 million but is also being made available as a short-term rental for a nightly rate starting at $6,800 and reaching $10,000 for holidays, according to Scott Mattson, reservations manager at Peak Properties in Eagle-Vail. Easter is still available, Mattson said.

“The experience of skiing down Ford’s Run to Ford’s house is an experience you can’t get anywhere else,” Mattson said. “It’s actually a bargain for the experience, but it’s more than I make in a month.”

Rentals of the late president’s home have been “somewhat sparse” because of the poor economy and the fact that the property didn’t go onto the short-term rental market until after the ski season started. “We try to market it in a way that’s respectful and tasteful and not too over the top,” Mattson said.

The Ford family sold the house for $6.5 million in December 2006 to Kevin Hayes, a real estate developer in Newport Beach, Calif.
