Specialized Colorado skiing license plates moved one step closer to becoming a reality after the Senate Appropriations Committee voted unanimously Friday to push it forward.
Senate Bill 161 was created after nearly 4,500 people signed a petition requesting the Department of Revenue offer the plates. If it’s approved, Colorado will join Utah, New York and Idaho in offering ski license plates. Colorado’s would be the first that depicts a skier and a snowboarder.
The plate will cost an extra $50; fees will pay for roads and bridges — bringing in an estimated $30,000 the first year. Elizabeth Aguilera, The Denver Post
