BRIGHTON, Colo.—The uncle of an 18-month-old boy who drowned in a hot tub in unincorporated Adams County pleaded guilty Friday to manslaughter and child abuse.
Twenty-eight-year-old Jarrod Michael Newsome was arrested last August. He had been caring for his nephew and niece while their father ran errands Aug. 12 when authorities say Newsome fell asleep on the couch.
Kaden Shaun Newsome was later found inside the hot tub. He died a week later at a hospital.
Jarrod Newsome faced a charge of misdemeanor child abuse because his niece was left unsupervised.
Sentencing is scheduled for June 5.
