AGENT: OWENS TO TOUCH DOWN WITH A TEAM SOON

IRVING, Texas — Terrell Owens’ agent predicts the well-traveled receiver will find a new team by the end of next week.

Owens is back on the market after being released Thursday by the Cowboys.

“There are several teams that are interested in signing Terrell,” agent Drew Rosenhaus wrote in a text message Friday. “I have been in negotiations with these teams. I will not identify these teams at this time. Terrell and I expect to have a deal in place by the end of next week, if not sooner.”

Owens is among the NFL’s career leaders in catches, yards and touchdowns. But the Cowboys are the third team to get rid of him because of his divisiveness. There’s speculation the Raiders or Redskins, among other teams, might be interested in him.

Eagles sign Jones to replace Dawkins

PHILADELPHIA — Safety Sean Jones signed a one-year, free-agent contract with the Eagles, helping to fill the void created by Brian Dawkins’ departure to the Broncos.

A second-round pick by Cleveland in 2004, Jones played five seasons with the Browns. He was mostly used as a strong safety, but his playmaking skills make him a potential replacement for Dawkins at free safety. Jones might have to beat out second-year pro Quintin Demps for the spot.

Jones ranks third among safeties behind Baltimore’s Ed Reed and St. Louis’ Oshiomogho Atogwe with 14 interceptions since 2006.

Pro Bowl returning to Hawaii in 2011, ’12

HONOLULU — The Pro Bowl is returning to Hawaii. The Hawaii Tourism Authority board voted 9-1 to accept the NFL’s offer to return to the islands.

The board rejected two previous proposals but, under mounting pressure, reconsidered its latest refusal to pay the NFL $4 million a year to host the all-star game at Aloha Stadium in 2011 and 2012. The 2010 Pro Bowl will be played in Miami a week before the Super Bowl after a 30-year run in Hawaii in which every game was a sellout.

Lt. Gov. James “Duke” Aiona testified in favor of returning the Pro Bowl, saying: “San Francisco has the 49ers, Denver has the Broncos, . . . Hawaii has the Pro Bowl.”

Footnotes.

The Bengals signed quarterback J.T. O’Sullivan, who started the first eight games for San Francisco last season, and released safety Dexter Jackson, an 11-year veteran who missed most of last season with injuries.

• The Cowboys signed defensive end Igor Olshansky to a four-year deal.

• The Vikings signed linebacker and special-teams standout Heath Farwell to a three-year, $7.75 million contract.

• The Titans agreed to a contract with punter Craig Hentrich, who will return for his 16th NFL season.

• Running back Kevin Jones agreed to a two-year contract to remain with the Bears.

• The Browns signed defensive lineman C.J. Mosley and safety Mike Adams.

• The Chiefs agreed to terms with safety Jon McGraw and linebacker Darrell Robertson. The Associated Press
