DENVER—The Denver Nuggets have sent rookie Sonny Weems back to the Colorado 14ers of the NBA Development League.
The move came Friday.
The 6-foot-6 guard-forward was called up on Jan. 6 and averaged 1.3 points in 10 games with the Nuggets. He played 1 minute, 21 seconds in a win over Portland on Thursday night but didn’t take a shot.
Weems is averaging 18 points in 10 games with the 14ers.
The Nuggets acquired Weems in a trade with Chicago and Portland on draft night in exchange for a second-round pick this summer.
Weems was hobbled early in the season by a left groin strain.
