GREELEY — Investigators only took into evidence tax records of known undocumented workers to determine whether they were involved in a fake-ID probe, a Weld County sheriff’s investigator testified today in Weld District Court.
The ACLU is suing both Weld County Sheriff John Cooke and District Attorney Ken Buck, claiming they illegally seized and searched tax record at Amalia’s Translation and Tax Service in Greeley last fall.
Buck and Cooke both say the searches were lawful.
The plaintiffs rested their case this morning; the defense rested after lunch.
Closing arguments are expected this afternoon.
