DENVER—People at the state Capitol took a break to enjoy a surprise concert Thursday.
Members of a Minnesota high school choir in Colorado for spring break performed in the first-floor rotunda, and their singing spilled out to the rest of the building.
Lobbyists and lawmakers on the second and third floors stopped to listen, leaning over the brass bannisters to hear the 48 singers below.
Gov. Bill Ritter was among those drawn out of his office. He said it was better than anything else he had on his calendar.
The choir is from Cambridge-Isanti High School in Cambridge, Minn. Director Frank Wells said the group would perform at Denver’s John F. Kennedy High School on Friday and then visit Breckenridge on Saturday for some skiing.
