LINCOLN, Neb.—Elliott Mencl scored 17 of his 28 points in the second half and Freeman ran off to a 62-40 victory over Archbishop Bergan in the Class C2 semifinals Friday at the boys state tournament.

Freeman (25-1) won its 14th straight game and will play in the state final for the first time. The Falcons meet Ravenna (22-5) on Saturday. Bergan (18-6) was the unbeaten Class D1 champion a year ago.

The Falcons broke out to a 16-5 first-quarter lead and led 29-13 at half.

Kyle Schlake added 16 points for Freeman. Jim Wilmes, the only returning starter from last year’s title team, led the Knights with seven points.
