A man who threatened to kill IRS employees or anyone else who tried to enforce a foreclosure order on his Gillette, Wyo., property has been sentenced to 27 months in prison.
Laurence Eustelle Wolff, 60, also was ordered to spend three years on supervised release after his prison term.
Wyoming U.S. District Judge Alan Johnson ordered Wolff to cooperate with the IRS in paying off his tax liabilities and to file income-tax returns.
Wolff, who did not pay federal income taxes for 20 years, was accused of sending threatening communications to numerous government employees, including IRS agents and a federal judge, on Aug. 15, 2008.
Three days later, Wolff barricaded himself inside his home at 1104 Buckskin Drive in Gillette. He posted notices on the property threatening to use force against law-enforcement officers and placed loaded firearms in his bedroom.
He was arrested when he left the house 11 days later.
